Factors
contributing to the cost of a Restoration:
THE
SIZE OF THE RESTORED PROJECT
If the finished photo is to be a 16x20, it will
naturally cost more than if is to be an 8x10 finished photo.
THE
COMPLEXITY OF THE PHOTO BEING RESTORED
If, for example, a woman has on a patterned dress such
as with flowers, the amount of artwork will be more than if the same dress
were a solid color.
THE
TYPE OF PHOTOGRAPH
It is less time consuming to work on a black and white
photograph than it is to work on a color photograph.
THE
DEGREE OF FADEING
A faded photograph requires work on virtually the
entire surface area to enhance or pull each color or pattern to a non faded
appearance. The more area of the photo that is faded, the more labor
intensive the project and therefore the more costly.
THE DEGREE OF DAMAGE
If a photograph has many surface imperfections such as
scratches, cuts, tears, and other marks, it will naturally cost more to
restore than a photograph containing lesser amounts of imperfections. A
scratch that passes through a solid color is less costly to fix than a
scratch that passes through an eye.
CHANGES
TO THE BACKGROUND
A
background can be cleaned up by removing unwanted objects such as trash
cans, electric wires, and other non essentials that may exist in a specific
area of the photograph to be restored. Another
option is to complete alteration of the background. A person standing on a
busy sidewalk can be given the appearance of being in a studio by inserting
a studio painted background behind them. The possibilities are limited only
by your imagination.
COLORIZATION
If
a black and white photo is to be turned into a color photo, then the steps
necessary to accomplish that goal will be a contributing factor toward the
overall cost of the project.
